The WatchGas Induction Cradle Charger is a single-device desktop charging station that keeps your SST4 and SST5 detectors powered and ready to grab. No hunting for chargers. Why induction (contactless) charging is the durability upgrade over pin-and-contact chargers:

Traditional cradle chargers rely on metal pins meeting metal contacts on the monitor. In field-service and industrial use, those contact points corrode over time — dust, moisture, chemical residue, and repeated seating cycles wear them down until the connection becomes unreliable. A charger that appears to be working but isn't fully seating is the failure mode that ends with a monitor showing low battery at the start of a shift.

Induction charging is contactless. It is NOT compatible with the WatchGas SST1 single-gas serviceable line. The SST1 monitors have a different charging system — do not attempt to charge them in this cradle.

The SST-IND-S induction cradle charger is compatible with the WatchGas SST4 series and SST5 monitors. The SST4 series includes:

Why induction (contactless) charging instead of a traditional contact charger?

Traditional cradle chargers use metal pins that touch metal contacts on the monitor to transfer power. Over months and years of daily industrial use, those contact points wear and corrode — dust, moisture, chemical residue, and repeated seating cycles all contribute. When contacts start to fail, the monitor may appear to be charging (a charging light comes on, the cradle looks like it's engaged) but the connection isn't fully complete, and the monitor's battery doesn't fully charge overnight. The failure mode is silent until someone tries to use the monitor and finds it at low battery.

Induction charging is contactless. Power transfers wirelessly through the monitor's housing via a magnetic field. No pins, no contacts, no wear, no cleaning required. In a fleet running dozens of monitors and cradles, this eliminates one of the most common maintenance-driven monitor failures.

Do I need a separate power adapter or is one included?

The AC power adapter is INCLUDED with the SST-IND-S. This is the "w/Adapter" variant in the product name — no separate power supply purchase is needed. Plug the adapter into a standard wall outlet, connect the cable to the cradle, and it's ready to charge.

Can I charge multiple monitors on one cradle?

No. Each SST-IND-S is a single-device cradle — one detector at a time. For a workshop bench, safety station, or calibration center that needs to charge multiple monitors simultaneously, purchase multiple cradles.

Can I use the SST-IND-S in a vehicle?

The SST-IND-S is designed for desktop use with the included AC adapter. For vehicle-based charging — field-service trucks, mobile inspection units, service vans — use the WatchGas SST Range Wireless Car Charger (SST-CAR-CHG) instead. That variant is engineered for 12V DC vehicle power and the vibration environment of a moving vehicle.

Why does the cradle appear to charge my monitor, but the battery is not at full charge in the morning?

Two common causes on any cradle charger (contact or induction):

Seating issue — the monitor is not properly aligned in the cradle. On the induction cradle, the monitor's induction receiver must be positioned over the cradle's induction coil for power transfer to work. Check the alignment; the monitor should sit fully in the cradle recess, not perched on top.
Power supply issue — the AC adapter is not fully plugged in at the wall or the cable is not fully seated at the cradle. Try a different wall outlet and re-seat all cable connections.

How long does a full charge take?

Charge times vary by SST monitor model and the monitor's starting battery level. Consult the WatchGas monitor manual for your specific model's charge cycle — typical full-charge times for the SST4 series are in the range of 4–6 hours from a fully depleted battery.

For fleet operations, a standard overnight charge (8+ hours) is well within the full-charge window for any SST monitor — the standard fleet-charging discipline is drop-in-cradle-at-end-of-shift, ready for the next shift.
