Description
The RKI OX-600 is an indoor, standalone monitor that detects Oxygen with a range of 0–25.0% volume in 0.1% increments. The OX-600 has two preset alarms, and comes ready to operate with a simple wall mount bracket. An audible alarm tone and the multicolored LED digital display notify the user when an alarm is triggered. The monitor uses a fast-responding, low-cost plug-in style galvanic cell sensor. This sensor is field replaceable with no tools required. The sensor can be remotely mounted with an optional remote sensor cable.
Applications: Laboratories, cryogenic environments, clean rooms, industrial gas facilities, gas storage rooms, indoor monitoring, iron and steel industry, warehouses, tunnels and garages, vehicle service areas
Key Features:
- Operates with or without a controller
- Tri-color visual alarm display: Green = Normal, Yellow = Alarm 1, Red = Alarm 2
- Large, easy-to-read digital display
- Pressure compensation eliminates false alarms caused by pressure change
- Power: 24 VDC (AC Adapter 49-2005RK-01, NOT included), 115 VAC (wall adapter included), or alkaline batteries
Note: The OX-600’s standard configuration is with the sensor installed in the main unit. Please call customer service to specify when ordering if you want an extender cable with a remote sensor. The sensor integrated type does not include the remote sensor.
Alarm Levels: Two preset alarms (L-LL), alarm 1 = 19.5% vol, alarm 2 = 18.0% vol

Frequently Asked Questions
What environments require fixed indoor oxygen deficiency monitoring?
Fixed O2 monitors are required wherever inert gases, cryogens, or incomplete combustion products can displace oxygen in an enclosed space. Common installations include laboratory gas rooms, cryogenic storage areas, clean rooms using nitrogen purge systems, industrial gas cylinder storage, vehicle service pits, and underground parking garages. OSHA 29 CFR 1910.146 defines oxygen-deficient atmospheres as those below 19.5% O2 and requires appropriate controls.
Can the RKI OX-600 operate without a gas detection controller?
Yes — the OX-600 is designed to operate as a fully standalone monitor. It manages its own alarm logic, provides tri-color LED indication, and sounds an audible alarm without any external controller required. For facilities that want to integrate OX-600 readings into a centralized system, the monitor can also be connected to RKI controllers such as the Beacon 110 or Beacon 410A.
What alarm levels does the OX-600 trigger for oxygen deficiency?
The OX-600 ships with two preset alarms: Alarm 1 (L) at 19.5% O2 — aligned with OSHA’s oxygen-deficient atmosphere definition per 29 CFR 1910.146 — and Alarm 2 (LL) at 18.0% O2. The tri-color display transitions from green to yellow at Alarm 1 and to red at Alarm 2, providing instant visual status from across a room. An audible alarm also sounds.
Does PK Safety service and install RKI OX-600 monitors?
PK Safety services RKI instruments in-house with factory-trained technicians, including fixed O2 monitors like the OX-600. We support sensor replacement, calibration, and system integration for fixed-point gas detection installations. Call our gas detection specialists at 800.829.9580 for service, installation guidance, or help selecting the right power configuration for your facility.
What power options are available for the RKI OX-600?
The OX-600 is available in three configurations: 115 VAC with a wall adapter included (72-1006), 24 VDC via the separately purchased AC adapter 49-2005RK-01 (72-1005), and alkaline battery operation using 2 AA batteries (72-1004). The battery version provides monitoring capability in locations without convenient power access. Call PK Safety at 800.829.9580 to confirm the right version for your installation.
How does pressure compensation in the OX-600 prevent false alarms?
Changes in barometric pressure affect the partial pressure of oxygen in the air, which can cause oxygen sensors to report slightly elevated or depressed readings unrelated to actual oxygen displacement. The OX-600 automatically compensates for barometric pressure variation, eliminating false alarms in environments subject to pressure fluctuations — such as altitude changes, HVAC pressurization cycles, or weather-driven pressure swings in large industrial facilities.
