Description
The
WatchGas SST4-MICRO External Filter (SST4-MICRO-XFIL-10) is the OEM replacement filter for the
SST4-MICRO Diffusion 4-Gas Detector. Each pack contains 10 filters. The filter sits at the sensor inlet and intercepts fine dust and particulates before they reach the sensor elements, preventing contamination-related drift and protecting sensor life in high-particulate environments.
The SST4-MICRO is the most compact monitor in the WatchGas SST4 line — lightweight clip-on form factor for full-shift wear. In environments where workers are close to dust sources (construction, drilling, processing plants), the external filter takes the particulate load that would otherwise accumulate on the sensor membrane. Replace on schedule with calibration intervals, or sooner when the filter shows visible loading. A 10-pack supplies a single unit for 1–2 years of scheduled maintenance, or provides fleet stock for multi-unit deployments.
Compatibility: SST4-MICRO Diffusion 4-Gas Detector only. Do not interchange with SST4-MINI or SST4-PUMP filters — inlet geometries differ.
For the SST4-MINI filter equivalent, see the
SST4-MINI-XFIL-10. Call
1-800-467-4374 for fleet quantities.
Frequently Asked Questions
How often should the SST4-MICRO external filter be replaced?
Replace the SST4-MICRO-XFIL-10 at each scheduled calibration interval, or sooner in heavily contaminated environments. Visual inspection — a filter that is visibly loaded with dust or discolored — is a reliable replacement trigger between scheduled intervals. In clean office or warehouse environments, filters may last the full calibration interval; in active construction or processing environments, more frequent replacement is common.
What are the consequences of running the SST4-MICRO without a filter?
Without the external filter, particulate matter reaches the SST4-MICRO's sensor elements directly. On electrochemical sensors (for CO, H2S, and O2), particulate accumulation can contaminate the membrane and cause response lag or permanently reduce sensor sensitivity. The external filter is a low-cost maintenance component that protects a significantly more expensive sensor assembly — it is not optional in particulate environments.
Is the SST4-MICRO-XFIL-10 the same as the SST4-MINI filter?
No. The SST4-MICRO-XFIL-10 and the
SST4-MINI-XFIL-10 are platform-specific. Each WatchGas SST4 model has a distinct inlet housing geometry; the filter must match the specific instrument. Check the part number on the label of your monitor's sensor housing, or call
1-800-467-4374 to confirm the correct filter for your fleet.
Does filter replacement require recalibration?
No recalibration is required after filter replacement — the filter does not contact the sensor chemistry and does not affect calibration gas response. A bump test after any maintenance step, including filter replacement, is always recommended to confirm the monitor responds correctly before deploying it into a hazardous environment.
