Regardless of what type of gas monitor you use on the job, we’re here to answer your questions and help you find the right replacement part for your equipment.

Having a clean filter helps you take more accurate gas readings. Gas monitor filters tend to get clogged or dirty over time. They can fill up with dirt, ash, dust, and liquids. When this happens, the air might not reach the sensor on the detector or monitor, and this can lead to inaccurate readings. If you notice that one of your filters could use a cleaning, replace it immediately.

Our factory-trained techs know a thing or two about gas detectors and monitors. If your monitor or detector needs repairs or replacement parts, you’ve come to the right place. We sell a range of replacement gas sensor screens, filters, circuit boards, and anything else you might need to maintain the performance of your gas monitor. Stock up on extra filters today for everything you need to keep your team safe on the job.

What does a filter do on a gas detector?

A gas detector filter is typically an insertable mesh filter that collects dust and other airborne debris from the air entering the gas detector. The work site air may contain debris that can potentially clog the gas detector and corrupt the internal gas detection sensor. Changing the filter on your gas detector when it gets dirty is essential for air to pass through the filter without damaging the sensor. Most filters typically will last the entire life of the gas detector, but can get clogged when used in dirty work environments with lots of dust, such as basements, manholes, and utility tunnels.

How do you change the filter on a gas detector?

Read the owners manual for instructions when changing the gas detector filter. The filter is typically located between the outer case and sensor. This may mean unscrewing the front or back panel using a Phillips screwdriver, depending on the location of the filter. Remove the plate to locate the filter. Remove the old filter and put the new one in place. Put the plate back and check that the monitor works correctly.

Do not use a gas detector with a dirty filter to ensure accurate readings. If you need help finding the right type of filter for your gas detectors, contact PK Safety for more information.
