The AimSafety PM400-P 4-gas detector features a Catalytic Bead (Pellistor) LEL sensor. This Multi-Gas Monitor brings enhanced convenience and flexibility to gas detection in hazardous environments. The ergonomic PM400 diffusion gas monitor simultaneously detects up to four gases, including hydrogen sulfide (H2S), carbon monoxide (CO), oxygen (O2) and combustibles (LEL). AimSafety’s PM400 is easy to use and delivers a continuous digital display of gas concentrations , along with flashing, audible and vibrating alarms once pre-set levels are reached. The Catalytic Bead LEL sensor is significant in that it will detect Hydrogen (H2) and Acetylene, while the alternative NDIR (infra red) sensor will not. The disadvantages of Catalytic Bead sensors are that they can be poisoned, need oxygen to operate, and use more power than NDIR LEL sensors. This results in 24 hours of run time, vs. 60 days for the NDIR equipped instrument.
