 The AK105A Confined Space Retrieval 8' Tripod from Protecta has been a popular item with us for years. Many of the customers that purchase from us like to use a traditional tripod for their confined space rescue and retrieval jobs. The AK105A combines ease of use with adjustable height at a very attractive price point. The unit weighs 39 lbs., and is only 65 in. overall in length once folded with the legs retracted. Once deployed, the system has a total diameter of up to 86 in. between the legs. This unit is usually ordered with the Protecta AK203AG Confined Space Winch and AK020A1 Snatch Block Pulley to make a ready-to-work system for raising and lowering both personnel and equipment. May also be combined with the AD515AG Self Retracting Lifeline/Winch for those applications where the tripod is the only means of support for the worker, and two lines are required. Once the tripod legs are opened, they lock in position. Then the legs each have adjustable length that can be locked at eight different heights by means of locking pins to account for uneven or out of level work surfaces. An adjustable length cable connects the leg-ends to control spreading under load and is integral to the strength of the device. The tripod head is cast aluminum, and the legs are are made of anodized aluminum rectangular tubing. Reflective safety tape is applied for added visibility on the street, while the feet have skid-resistant tread on the soles. Note that the tripod does not have a built-in or integral pulley, so please consider ordering the AK020A1 Pulley and Carabiner combination. As a single anchorage point the tripod is rated at 5,000 lbs. Meets OSHA 1910 & ANSI Z359.1-1998 standards for confined-space entry devices.
