Consider the Sealed Self-Retracting Lifeline SRL's from Capital Safety. They are different in that their working components sealed from dirt, debris and humidity. A rubber gasket seals off one half of the housing. This contains the springs, brakes and gears. Only the cable on its reel is potentially exposed to the elements. This has made these a favorite on off-shore oil platforms and other challenging environments.
